The Soprano’s upped my usage of the word “Motherfucker” by ten, at least
Big Love made me think, Hey, a few other women around here wouldn’t be so bad.
Mad Men just makes me want to smoke all over again.
True Blood makes me think fucking a vampire completely covered in dirt is an okay/sexy thing.
And I haven’t seen Weeds or Breaking Bad yet.

My 20-year reunion is about a month away. I’ve connected with a lot of classmates via Facebook and that’s been fun. There are two though that I don’t wish to connect with. It’s amazing how long I can carry a grudge. And now, at the 20-year, I’ve come to realize that I’ve known some of these people longer than I’ve NOT known them. Even if we aren’t close, some of these people knew me at my best and my worst and have hung in there loving me anyway. There aren’t words for how wonderful I think that is.

Bill was super sweet and even sent me a personal e-mail - not through his publicist. Yay! I was so excited today that at times my throat closed because I was so proud/thrilled/enchanted that I just couldn’t take it.

Summer doldrums

I have a category called ‘medication needed’ and it’s for things like this. Unhappy, tired, negative bullshit. As much as I consider myself an independent woman, when my relationship with my husband breaks down I’m at a total loss. I can handle crisis from just about every angle, but when I come home to a void its just beyond lonely.

Unfortunately the only one to help me fix this is the one person I want to avoid. Funny how that seems to work. I have been thinking that I need to get back on the meds though — that’s the truth. I can’t take the purple ones due to the tinnitus side-effect. So I need something else. And going into the doctor to discuss it is just a chore, so I don’t want to do it.

I think a good dose of Chardonnay and a long, slow screw from Adrien Brody would do wonders.

Hey! Don’t bogart my HEALTHCARE!!

Dear Old America, and by old I mean anyone on Medicare,

SHUT UP! Shut up about the Obama Healthcare plan. YOUR ALREADY ON GOVERNMENT FUNDED HEALTH CARE! You have no say in this. Just keep collecting social security and watching Bill O’Riely.

Oh and do me a favor. READ THE FUCKING HEALTHCARE BILL! There is no death squad out to get you. When you reach the end of your life and are in the hospital or at home on hospice care IT WON’T MATTER! A doctor or healthcare professional talking to your family about the “tough decision” boils down to this….How long do we do what we do in order to keep said old person alive?
Hopefully, if you don’t have your head up your puckered ass, you’ll have talked about all of this with your family beforehand. Remember that great national dialog that happened because of Terri Shivo? Well, this is the result! You can either make your wishes known by obtaining an health care directive (available in ANY doctors office), or tell your rellies, pump me full of every goddamn thing you can think of and if I live a year in a coma, SO BE IT! But please, have the discussion.

Don’t bitch about “the death squad”. If Medicare doesn’t have a billing code for a doctor or healthcare professional talking to you or your family about the “end of life decision”, the patient pays for it. Well guess what old-timer? With Obama’s Healthcare Bill, Medicare will now have a code for that “procedure” so that it will be covered. Gee, what a novel idea - INFORMING PEOPLE ABOUT BIG, MAJOR HEALTHCARE DECISIONS. And helping with the paperwork. Wow!

I’ve been through two major deaths in my family, my Mom and my Brother. In both cases, they talked to their family about what their wishes were. They were both terminally ill. In both cases, when they went into the hospital for the last time, a doctor came in and said, here is where we are at and professionally, here is where we are going. The end result is the same, do we want to make “the patient” comfortable, or do we want to do everything we can to prolong this terminal illness, pain and suffering. And now, doctors can code that they had that discussion and get reimbursed for it. ISN’T THAT WHAT WE ALL WANT?! Someone coming in, no matter how horrible it is and doing their job? I sure do!

There is no death squad - well maybe there is, but it’s not in the form of your doctor or family. Do us all a favor and say if it comes to this, do this. And if it comes to that, do that. And if this and that happen, for the love of god, just let me go. But enough about government funded healthcare. Please. You carry your Medicare card with you wherever you go, you’ll all so damn proud and thankful to be on it. It’s government funded healthcare, because no one else will insure you, and with good reason. Shouldn’t there be some other government funded healthcare for other people who maybe uninsurable? You take advantage of it. Why can’t anyone else? Stop bogarting government healthcare you old biddies!
